Cardiovascular risk indicator using simple tape measurements and WHO standards.
--
Waist-to-hip ratio (WHR) is calculated by dividing your waist circumference by your hip circumference. It is a strong predictor of cardiovascular disease and mortality risk because it reflects abdominal fat distribution.
| Risk Level | Men | Women |
|---|---|---|
| Low | < 0.90 | < 0.80 |
| Moderate | 0.90 – 0.99 | 0.80 – 0.89 |
| High | ≥ 1.00 | ≥ 0.90 |
Measurement tips: Measure waist at the narrowest point (usually just above the navel). Measure hips at the widest point of the buttocks. Keep the tape parallel to the floor and snug but not compressing skin.
